Dr. Darren Pakravan graduated with a degree in environmental sciences at Northwestern University before attending the University of Illinois Chicago for his Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
He completed one year of hospital dentistry at Evanston-Northwestern Healthcare before completing his Master of Science and specialty training in orthodontics.
The Windy City Orthodontics team and Dr. Pakravan attend many hours of continuing dental orthodontic education every year and study topics ranging from orthodontic mechanics and appliance to advances in diagnostic and developmental understanding. We also focus on learning how to manage our practice management better.
Roscoe Village Braces
Traditional braces are one of the most efficient and effective orthodontic tools in use. We attach metal or ceramic brackets are attached to your teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. Through regular adjustments with Dr. Pakravan, these parts work together to apply gentle pressure, which will gradually move the teeth into the desired positions.

Roscoe Village Spark
Instead of brackets and bands, the Roscoe Village Spark system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to slowly but consistently move the teeth into alignment. This option is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is currently the top alternative to traditional braces.
Spark aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient’s teeth. The trays are virtually invisible and are usually switched out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. This keeps the teeth moving in the right direction! Aligners have to be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to do their job. Patients who neglect to wear the aligners as directed can have a negative impact on the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.
